Industry Specific ComplianceThe Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) on July 06, 2026, issued a notice regarding the representations received about pharmaceutical firms marketing multiple drug formulations.

The following has been stated:-

•The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) issued a notice regarding representations received about pharmaceutical firms marketing multiple drug formulations with different active ingredients under the same established brand name with different extensions. 

•The issue was deliberated during the 67th Drugs Consultative Committee (DCC) meeting, where concerns were raised that this practice could mislead consumers and cause therapeutic confusion. 

•Consequently, the DCC recommended conducting a stakeholder consultation to thoroughly examine the various aspects of using brand name extensions.

•CDSCO is now inviting comments and suggestions from stakeholders on this proposal by July 17, 2026.
